“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
(2 Corinthios 4:18 (NVI))
How many times do we make decisions based only on what we see or feel? Or even on the circumstances that surround us or on people’s predictions. We change places, jobs or directions in search of something better, without considering whether we are leaving the place where God planted us.
Elimelech, fearing the crisis, left Bethlehem (the House of Bread) and lost everything he had. His search for a temporary solution led him to lose not only his possessions, but also his peace and his life.
Naomi, his wife, only found restoration when she decided to return to the place of provision. Even after a long time and many losses, God still had a plan for her. After all, our God is a God of many opportunities.
And what can we learn from this? Don’t make decisions based on what your eyes see. Seek God’s direction and stay where He wants you to be. We may not understand or agree, but we are driven to simply believe. To believe in the invisible, in a promise, in a word. In the word of the One who can do everything, knows everything, sees everything.
May our story end with restoration and not with unnecessary loss! Fix your eyes on what is eternal! Jesus invites us to trust in Him and in what the Father is producing in us. In the midst of conflicting circumstances, we know that He is the one who takes the heavy burdens and gives us His light burden. Trust in Jesus.
Prayer: Dear God, we are always tempted to follow our own inclinations, desires, or feelings. Help us to follow only Your will. Help us to mortify our flesh and be filled with Your Spirit so that we have enough faith to surrender everything, but everything into Your hands. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
