Give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
No matter what we pray for, thanksgiving should always go with it. A good
habit to develop is starting all our prayers with thanksgiving. Especially because
the Bible says in Thessalonians 5.18 that it is God’s will for all of us in Christ
Jesus. An example of this would be: “Thank You for all You have done in my
life, you are amazing, and I really appreciate You.”
If we truly believe God has the best for us, we’ve got to understand that
whatever happens to us is always for our good. when God sees that we genuinely
appreciate and are thankful for the big and little things, He is inclined to bless us
even more.
Thanking God is something He loves, something that warms His heart.
Any time we give God pleasure like that, our intimacy with Him increases—and
that makes for a better relationship with Him. Besides, it’s also visible evidence
we’re spiritual grownups. When we realize that’s not only what we want, we prefer
or what we wish that matters. But God’s plans instead.
I encourage you to make it a habit. Develop an attitude of thanksgiving in
every situation. In your prayers, before starting to ask God anything, glorify His name and start to thank Him for all He has done and for all the plans He has for
you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your forgiveness and great love;
thank you for your wanting to have communion with us. Despite all our mistakes
and shortcomings, the Lord is still merciful and dwells in us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
