“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”

(1 Corinthians 6.19-20)

God the Father created our bodies, God the Son redeemed them, and God the Holy Spirit indwells them. This makes our body the very temple of the Holy Spirit of God. And we do this by placing our trust and faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Therefore, how we behave, think and speak, and what we let into the temple through our eyes and ears becomes critically important as well, for every thought, word and deed is in His view.

God is so interested in us, He cares so much about us, that different from what had happened to our forefathers, He is not simply around, but God dwells in us.  He cares about every single thing that makes us happy or concerns us. Likewise, He is interested that every bit of me is whole and healthy.

When we live by the Spirit, we will no longer gratify the desires of the sinful nature (Galatians 5:16). On the contrary, “you were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires” (Ephesians 4.22).

We should all be grateful for God’s patience and longsuffering with us. Especially since day after day the Holy Spirit Himself teaches and encourages us, through the process of sanctification, to be a better temple for Himself. Therefore, let’s do what God teaches us in His word, what it is up to us to do so that He can fulfill His will in our lives.

Prayer: Dear and Holy God, I know it’s never too late to change our minds and go forward in the right direction, above all, if we are guided by your Holy Spirit. So, help us improve and do the necessary repairs or maintenance on our temples so that You feel comfortable and honored.   In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
