Do not worry about tomorrow

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:26,27,34)

I do love these verses because it shows us God has every single thing under control. And better than that, He does care about us. He assures us we can count on Him once He is our provider. He knows what we need, and He assures us that if we trust in Him, without anxiety, without doubting, He will give us all the necessary support.

Jesus states that an anxious and worried mind is not normal. What is normal for a believer is the atmosphere of peace and joy. That’s the atmosphere of heaven and this is the environment God wants us to live in: the spiritual atmosphere of peace that passes understanding.

Why are we going to pray if we’re going to just keep worrying. It’s just wasted effort if we’re going to worry. So, don’t pray! When we pray, we’ve got to believe that Jesus is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

So, I encourage you not to bother getting anxious, because it won’t do you any good anyway. Just focus on today!” We have a choice to make. When we’re tempted to think over and over about a situation and worry about the future, it’s up to us to stop, give it to God, then choose to enjoy the present moment. God is always going to be there.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I praise you and thank you because we’re not alone. You promised that you would remain with us all the days of our lives until the end of the age and the Lord has kept his promise. So, help us not to live worried because we know that the Lord takes care of us. We have seen your good hand caring for us and sustaining us. We are grateful to you, and we pray gratefully in the name of Jesus. Amen.
