“Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

(Exodus 3:5 (NVI))

Our God is a God of relationships. He is interested in having a relationship with us. It has been this way since Eden. We were the ones who broke this bond. But in Jeremiah 29:13 we read: You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. At some point in our lives, God will reveal himself to us when he sees our interest in truly knowing him. And when this bond is reconnected, everythingchanges in our lives, since we have a perfect understanding of our purpose. We then begin to move towards this purpose, even though we often do not understand the process.

Moses had already spent 40 years in Egypt as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He was living the life of a prince when it was discovered that he had killed an Egyptian and hidden his body. In fear, he fled to the desert where he lived for another 40 years. One day, at the age of 80, while he was taking care of his father-in-law’s sheep, he saw a bush that was burning. Until he realized that despite this, it was not consumed. Intrigued, he approached to understand what was happening. That was when God said to him: Moses, Moses, “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” In the first dialogue with Moses, God tells him to take it off. God did not tell him that He would
give him something, but that Moses should take it off.

This simple verse makes us understand that first, God expects us to seek Him. When we seek Him, when we show interest in Him, He speaks to us. Second, He shows us that it is not just any old way. He determines how it must be. After all, He is holy. And lastly, He shows us that we must strip ourselves of what we have and obey. When we recognize Him, when we learn to listen to Him and obey, He makes us live what we have never lived, to have much more than we could dream of and to be what we could never be alone.

Therefore, we must understand that God is present in all the processes of our lives. No matter what we go through, even if we do not have a clear vision of what is behind the circumstances, what matters is that we know that each stage is training for what is yet to come. Plus. He has the best for us. Don’t be afraid!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us with our unbelief. Take away all fear and anxiety. Take away from us everything that can prevent your perfect action in our lives. We want to be ready to listen to you, obey you, and follow your purpose for our lives. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
