What should I know about God’s promises?

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed,

and heirs according to the promise.

(Galatians 3:29)

There are thousands of God’s promises in the Bible. Promises for His people, promises for whoever is willing to receive them, and promises for a single person. When we know what God has promised us, we can confidently claim those things in our own lives.

However, if you want His promises to come true in your life, you’ve got to follow some principles. All promises are going to demand us some effort. They’re not going to be handed tous on a silver platter. First, God wants us to truly believe in Jesus as our savior and that He can do it (Hebrew 11:6).  In Genesis 15:6, When God promised Abram would have his own son, Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Secondly, we’ve got to be ready to submit to God’s will. No matter it may sound awkward or complex, obey Him.The Almighty asked Abraham to sacrifice his long-awaited son. Nevertheless, Abraham obeyed God’s unexpected command because he trusted God’s promise and knew him to be good and trustworthy. Likewise, Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family (Hebrew 11:7).

And finally, the key to receiving the promises of God is the ability to wait for His promises regardless of how long it takes. Many people miss the blessings of God because they feel God is too slow to act. Whoever that needs the blessings of God must be patient enough to receive it. It can take place immediately, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13); It can take some time as it happened to Abraham, after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. He had to wait for 25 years to have Isaac in his hands. It can also take long 45 years as it happened to Caleb to possess his land. Meanwhile, in all situations, God was confirming His promises.

If God has promised you something, I encourage you to follow all these principles. Stay persistent and constant and soon, in God’s timing, it will happen.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me stay persistent, confident, steadfast in Your promises. Your Word says that you are faithful in all your promises. I’m positive you are. So, help me follow your principles diligently regardless of how long it may take so that I can see your promises fulfilled in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Our Prayers Should Be Aligned With God’s Will

Prayer is the most important thing a Christian can do. God has countless ways to communicate with us. We, however, have only one single way to talk to Him, prayers. How can we say we know God if we do not invest enough time and effort to strengthen this relationship? What does He want from you and how can you fulfill His expectations?
