The Father has loved us so much that we are called children of God.

1 John 3.1

It’s vital we are in close relationship with the Lord. This way we can be  calm and undemanding, believing that our acceptance is not based on our  performance or perfect behavior, but on the work Jesus has done for and in us.  It is established on our personal relationship with Christ.

When we like ourselves, we show God we accept ourselves as God’s  creation. It doesn’t mean we like and accept everything we do, but we do  welcome what God does and we know it’s perfect because there’s a purpose for  it to be that way. God loves us unconditionally, and even when we make  mistakes, we are no less His child.

We become God’s children when we are saved because we are adopted  into God’s family through our relationship with Jesus Christ (Galatians 4:5- 6; Ephesians 1:5). This can be clearly seen in verses like Romans 8:14-17:  “…because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did  not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the  Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

Therefore, let’s get encouraged to look at yourselves in the mirror every  single morning and say, “I like myself. I am a child of God, and I’m sure He loves  me. He gave me gifts and talents. I am a special person—and I like and accept  myself.” If we do that and really believe it, it will work wonders in helping us accept  the person God created us to be and get all the blessings He wants us to heir.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me get my relationship with you be closer and closer so that I find no way to doubt your immense forgiveness and love for me. Help me accept myself the way you accept me so that I can live all you have planned. In Jesus’ name, amen.
