“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty ; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.

 (Genesis 17.1)

God told Abraham what the key to having God’s “abundant life” (His love, peace and joy) was:  keeping Him in His rightful place in our priorities. Be attentive that God himself instructed Abraham to be habitual in walking with Him and living for Him. We can do this by organizing our lives so that we set aside enough and consistent time to spend in God’s presence. Daily habits of prayer and worship will connect us with the Almighty and guide us on the correct track.

There is nothing we do in obedience to God’s will that God does not reward us with rich blessings. Genesis 5.24 tells us about Enoch. The Bible doesn’t say what exactly he did, but he was rewarded by his attitude towards God. “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” Enoch didn’t even experience death because he walked with God and surely did what pleased God.

Prioritize a deep, intimate relationship with God. Tell him he has the first place in your life and show him through your attitudes that it’s true. Live what 1 Thessalonians 2.4b says: “We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.” We should always have in mind to do what pleases God. We do not feel complete and joyful if we lean on our own understanding. He wants us to trust him with all our hearts and strength and soul so that he can make our paths straight. Only when we live the life that he has planned for us, we can truly be happy and complete. Only then we can live his promises of blessing our lives and making us prosperous.

God does not expect us to be right all the time. He understands when we make mistakes. However, when it happens, don’t let it hold you back. Take heart, seek God, confess it, and keep going. God will give you the grace to do what you need to do. One day at a time, you and God together can do anything!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m sure I cannot make it if you are not with me. I’m conscious of my total and complete dependence on you. Hold my hand and help me not turn to the right or the left; keep my foot from evil. Help me have my eyes look straight ahead; fix my gaze directly before you so that I have nothing to regret. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
